La Sem is an exclusive Italian Patisserie committed to the highest standards of quality and freshness.
La Sem was founded by Mimi Semeraro in Bari, Italy on Sept 1, 1930. It was here that a young Nicola Ventola found his passion for cakes, pastries and other confectionary delights. Wanting to continue the legacy he had grown up around, Nicola opened La Sem here in Toronto in July 1963. His goal was to bring a true European style bakery to Toronto including introducing the first outdoor patio to the city.
La Sem has won awards and recognition for its wedding cakes, hand modeled marzipan and was voted the best cannoli in the GTA by the Toronto Star.
