ICCO Canada’s first visit to Italy post Covid-19

In October 2021 ICCO Canada’s Executive Director Corrado Paina visited Italy on his first trip back post Covid-19. During this trip he travelled throughout the major cities and met with Italian Institutions, Chambers of Commerce, private companies as well as several businesspeople interested in knowing more about Ontario and Canada. During the Executive Director’s visit to Rome he met with ICCO Canada’s long-time partner Unioncamere Lazio to solidify a three- year agreement originally signed in 2019, which includes the Lazio Marketplace project taking place in November 2021, bringing authentic and typical food products and wines from the region of Lazio to Toronto for masterclasses and B2B meetings.

While in Rome, Corrado Paina also had the opportunity to visit an art exhibition at the “Scuderie del Quirinale” called “Inferno” curated by the renowned art critic Jean Clair (an exhibition about Dante Alighieri’s Inferno – La Divina Commedia). Merging Italian literature and Italian food was a great addition to this already extraordinary exhibition.

Throughout his stay in Italy, Corrado Paina had the opportunity to meet various companies in the food and beverage sector that are interested in the Ontario market. An agreement was also reached with Promos Italia to offer assistance to a group of companies whose products will be available for purchase online in Canada.

We hope that this was only the beginning for new collaborations in this sector for years to come.
