What’s new in Italy: find new suppliers

During the Convention of the Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad, that took place from November 29 to December 2, 2021, ICCO Canada met with a selection of Italian companies interested in distribution in Canada:

Naxida Azienda Agricola Biologica is a family run company which is now operated by its third generation and has grown over the decades in Sicily to include a vast array of products such as green pistachios of Bronte DOP, dried fruits, and its derivatives. At the core of the company is the quality of their products. The farming techniques, the harvesting, and the ability to work the products has been passed down by generations and the company is one of few that have obtained the prestigious “Pistacchio Verde di Bronte D.O.P.” certification, the only one that 100% guarantees the originality, quality, and taste of this unique product.

Since almost two centuries Marchesi di Rampingallo has been owned by the Russo Messina family, who completely renovated their property and in 1998 transformed it into a modern establishment for high quality wine production, thanks the most advanced technology. They own 69 hectares of land, near Trapani, in Sicily, offering various types of wines made of autochthonous grapes as well as international grapes.

Scuderia Italia is a company that produced the “Scuderia Italia – Prestigious Italian Wines” wine collection, thanks to the collaboration with important wine producers. Last year they were awarded with the best wine collection in the luxury magazine Food & Drink Awards di LUX Life. Their wines are distributed mostly through the Ho. Re. Ca. channels as well as through collaborations with brokers.

They are already present in Ontario and interested in expanding their business.

Bioalimenta was founded in 1998 in Fara San Martino (Abruzzo, Italy), on the eastern side of the Majella National Park, a place known worldwide as the capital of quality pasta. The company manufactures Gluten Free pasta and potato gnocchi (also organic) in an “allergen free” plant, with selected raw materials, respecting the Italian tradition and the privileged environment of its location that provides pure air and natural spring water. With 5 production lines, Bioalimenta produces a unique assortment of more than 70 different pasta shapes and a great variety of potato gnocchi under its brand Farabella. Its catalogue also includes flours, cookies, cakes, snacks (sweet and savory), crackers and sauces, exclusively gluten free, that are exported to over 20 countries.

Le Querce di Annibale, located in the southern region of Basilicata, produces organic extra virgin olive oils, DOC and IGT wines, pasta, vegetables, honey, and much more. This company is very tied to its land and it has been producing their outstanding products for decades. They own 24 hectares of land, 10 of which are dedicated to the cultivation of organic olives, certified by the ICEA brand and awarded with the DOP Vùlture brand.

For 20 years Solefrutta has been producing the best jams and marmalades using only strictly selected local raw materials from the Trebisacce area, in Calabria. The main activity is to transform these precious fruits of nature within 48 hours of harvesting through transformation techniques that derive from the ancient tradition according to the artisan recipes, using only top-quality fruit and sugar. The careful selection of the best raw materials, in fact, together with the quality orientation, verified at every stage of the manufacturing process, have contributed to making the products a food excellence widely appreciated by consumers. Each marmalade and jam contains 82% of fresh fruit without the use of preservatives. These factors, together with a consolidated know-how in 20 years of passionate work, represent some of the core competences that differentiate them from their competitors.

Olio Poldo, located in Castelfidardo, in the Marche region of central Italy, produces and sells extra virgin olive oil. The company is very passionate about olives and the olive oil sector, and they aim at producing high quality products. The company was started in 2012 from Lorenzo’s passion for olive growing, when he recovered the management of the family olive grove. It presently has 4 olive tree varieties: Raggia, Leccino, Coratina and Picholine, from which the homonymous monovarietals are born.
