Buonissimo presents: David Rocco’s True Italian Aperitivo

Who doesn’t love a True Italian Aperitivo? This traditional Italian trend is becoming more and more popular outside of Italy as well as here in North America. The selection of cocktails and snacks available at bars and restaurants is quite extensive, from traditional drinks like white wine all the way to cocktails mixed with different types of spirits such as for example Vermouth, which originates from the northern Italian region of Piedmont. It has become a tradition to meet at the local bar or restaurant to sit together and socialize while drinking an Aperitivo and nibble on delicious appetizers before heading out or home for dinner.

This summer we had the great opportunity to meet with Celebrity Chef and Executive Producer David Rocco to discuss Aperitivo and everything that comes along with it. From the traditional foods and appetizers that accompany these tasty cocktails to his favourite types of drinks.

David Rocco brings his passion for food, travel and adventure to millions of homes through his worldwide hit television programs David Rocco’s Dolce Vita, and his spin-off shows; Dolce India, Dolce Africa, Dolce Italia, Dolce SE Asia and David Rocco’s Dolce HomeMade coming this fall. Author of three Internationally Bestselling cookbooks, Chef Rocco will launch his own line of pasta and sauces across Canada later this year.

We visited David Rocco at his first Canadian establishment, David Rocco Bar Aperitivo in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood, which he opened in the summer of 2021 and was included on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurant list. David Rocco experienced the Aperitivo scene first hand during his many visits to Italy and shared his passion for this tradition with us during our visit. If you are ever in Yorkville make sure to stop by to taste some of his amazing Aperitivi!

Salute!
